PlanetDebate.com is very excited to announce both the development of Lincoln-douglas.com and that Minh Luong will continue to be our new author-editor of the LD Tutorials for 2005-2006.
The first release will be available August 29th.
We will continue to deliver the same bi-monthly topic briefing, now produced by Prof. Minh A. Luong and a co-author from Yale University who is an expert in the topic area. Minh's briefings will be delivered exclusively through Planet Debate's Lincoln-Douglas.com. The briefings can be purchased individually for $25 (5 tokens) or are available as part of a five brief subscription for $99. The subscription also includes access to topic-specific research links and a few audio lectures delivered at the Yale Ivy Scholars program.
Minh A. Luong & Company Topic Briefings:
Topic in Context: Analysis which places the topic in historical, political, and/or economic context. Keeps the topic in perspective.
Topic Briefing: This briefing introduces the major issues related to the topic, introduces key experts and their positions, and covers the topic inan interdisciplinary fashion.
Strategies and Arguments: This section outlines suggested strategies and identifies key arguments for both the affirmative and negative sides. Whilenot in block form, the narrative steps the reader through the logic of the strategy and which arguments can be used most effectively. It will be up to the debater to craft the claim, data, and warrant for each argument.
Topic Bibliography: As the title suggests, this section contains a list of resources that was used in the preparation of the topic briefing and additional resources for further research.
* The Tutorials subscription will also include audio lectures on L-D theory and practice by Minh and his colleagues.
